[Golf] Men's and Women's Golf Host The Primm Battle

Primm, Nevada – The Grand View University men's and women's golf teams competed in the Primm Battle on March 19th and 20th. The event took place at the Primm Valley Golf Club. The men's team finished 10th in a field of 16 teams, while the women's team finished 10th out of 11 teams.Maria Mantilla (SR/Bogota, Colombia) finished 16th, which was the highest of any Viking striker. She shot a 158 (79-79) for the competition.Mitch Pfingsten (SR/Fairmont, Minnesota) paced the Viking men by shooting a 214 (68-73-73). This put the Fairmont product at 33 on the leaderboard. Braxton Risetter (SR/Jewell, Iowa) and Dan Bredernitz (SR/Mapleton, Illinois) followed a stroke behind shooting a 215 (70-72-73) and 215 (69-73-73) respectfully.For the women, British Columbia took home the top spot while shooting a 597 (304-293) overall. Kelly Hellman of British Columbia also took home the individual title.On the men's side, Oklahoma City sat atop the team leaderboard with an overall score of 811 (273-263-275). Andrew Williamson of Wayland Baptist and David Meyers of Oklahoma City shot the low scores for the tournament.Up Next…The Vikings men's golf team will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete in the NAIA Brickyard Classic. Meanwhile, the women's golf team compete in the TPC Deer Run Invitational in Silvis, Illinois. Both squads will begin play on April 8th.
