[Men's Golf] Darkis Signs Golf Letter of Intent

Friends University Athletics and Head Coach Aaron Winter are proud to announce the signing of Gilvon Darkis.In three seasons at Labette County High School, Darkis was a three-time state qualifier in 4A, amassing numerous wins, and helping lead his team to a Regional Championship. He also finished as regional runner-up as an individual. Darkis transferred to Wichita West High School this past school year, and is looking for another strong showing at Regionals and State later this month."I am extremely excited to be signing a player of Gilvon's caliber," said Winter. "He'll be an asset to the team in many ways, but a couple of things that really stand out to me is how strong of a competitor he is and that he's a winner. Having seen Gilvon play, I couldn't help but be impressed by how he approached and prepared for each shot – you could tell that he really thinks through each shot and makes his decision on what to do and goes for it. I think he'll be an immediate contributor for us from day one and I can't wait to start coaching him next season!"Darkis becomes the third member of this years' class that Winter has signed, bringing the team roster total up to nine.
