[Men's Golf] Men's Golf Falcons finish fourth at Mid-South Classic Tournament

Newton, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons came away with a fourth-place showing today (Sept. 7) at the highly-competitive Mid-South Classic Tournament at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.After getting off to a bit of a slow start on Monday with a 296 team score, the Falcons charged back and improved their standing by 10 strokes to a 286. Freshman Trinton Nobles sparked the improved play by shooting -2 for the second day.The third day also saw the Falcons better their position by two more spots and come within just three strokes of third-place Marian University.Nobles led the way for the Falcons, coming in tied for fourth overall with a 70-72-71-213 final tally.Trenton Sutherland was also strong for Friends, finishing tied for 13th overall (73-71-74-218).Gerardo Alemany was right behind Sutherland in a tie for 15th (76-72-71-219) for the Falcons."This was a very talented field and a great golf course," said Dustin Galyon, Friends University Director of Golf and Men's Golf head coach."We did not start well but showed some mental toughness and continued to stay engaged throughout. We are learning every single round and it was fun to compete with some very good teams. Trinton did a great job of playing his game and played the course well."The Falcons will next compete at the Crestview Fall Invitational on Sept. 19-20 at Crestview Country Club in Wichita.
