[Men's Golf] Sutherland ready for the spotlight of this week's NAIA Men's Golf National …

Silvis, Ill. – As a freshman competing for a program seeing its first action since the 2015 season, it has not taken long for Trenton Sutherland to make his mark in the Friends University men's golf lore.Sutherland exploded onto the scene during the fall competition, winning KCAC Men's Golfer of the Week in October after leading the rejuvenated Falcons to their second team title of the season along with coming out on top individually for the second time at the Tabor College Invitational. The Arkansas City, Kan. native then capped off the 2021-22 regular season in the most dramatic way possible, sinking a 30+-foot birdie on the 72nd hole to capture the KCAC individual championship and earn his way to this week's NAIA National Championship tournament as an individual qualifier."I'm super excited to be here and compete this week," said Sutherland. "TPC Deere Run is in great shape and is a great venue for the National Championship. I'm thrilled to represent Friends University at the national stage!"The KCAC Freshman of the Year and a second-team all-conference selection, Sutherland is scheduled to tee off tomorrow (May 17) at approximately 1:50 pm."I'm excited for Trent to have this experience and to compete at the highest level!" said Dustin Galyon, Friends University men's golf head coach and Director of Golf. "The talent level for this week is incredibly high. I think he is one of the youngest, if not the youngest competitor in the field this week. This is a great step for our program!"  Click HERE to follow the live scoring of this week's (May 17-20) NAIA Men's Golf National Championships.
