[Women's Golf] Lytle first, Sanders sixth at season-ending Viking Invitational

Amara Lytle finished a strong spring by claiming medalist honors at the two-day Viking Invitational hosted by Augustana College at Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill.Lytle had the best round of the tournament, a 2-over 74 on Sunday. That, coming on the heels of a 79 Saturday, gave her a 153 total and a two-shot victory over the 62-player field.The freshman from Cedar Falls, Iowa, wrapped up her season with four straight top-five finishes. She took fourth at the Upper Iowa Spring Invitational, third at the Fighting Bee Invitational and fifth at the CCAC Championships. The 79 and 74 over the weekend were her first collegiate rounds in the 70s.Lytle was joined in the top 10 at Highland Springs by Maitlyn Sanders, who finished her senior season with the top scoring average on the team. Sanders carded back-to-back rounds of 79 to finish with a 158, good for sixth place overall. Sanders, from Galesburg, Ill., averaged an 82.35 over 17 rounds and placed inside the top 10 in nine of the team's 10 events this year.The other three Bees all earned top-25 finishes.Katherine Speer shot rounds of 86 and 84 while Kara Williams carded an 84 and an 86 to tie for 22nd place with 170s. Sam Cramer was 25th after rounds of 85 and 86 gave her a 171.The Bees, who found themselves in third place after opening with a 327, climbed into second with a final round 323. Their 650 left them 10 shots behind Augustana, who won their own event with a 640 (323-317).St. Ambrose also had three players compete as individuals. Leah Sullivan shot a 184 (91-93), Emma Cameron finished with a 185 (99-86) and Alexis Dross came in with a 206 (101-105).
