[Women's Golf] St. Ambrose claims fourth at Highland Classic

A nine-shot improvement helped lift St. Ambrose to a fourth-place finish at the Highland Classic, played at Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill.After an opening round of 334, the Bees fired back with a 325 on the second round to finish fourth in the 13-team event.Maitlyn Sanders led the way with a top-10 finish, shooting a 159 to tie for eighth place. Katherine Speer shot an 82 in both rounds to finish in an 11th-place tie.Amara Lytle shot an 81 in the second round to finish with a 166 (t-15th). Sam Cramer improved eight shots on the second day to card a 172, good enough to tie for 29th. Kara Williams rounded out the scoring for the Bees with a t-34th finish, shooting 88 twice to score 176.St. Ambrose also fielded a second team, who shot a collective 732 to take ninth overall. Emma Cameron led the squad with a 178 (t-38th), with Leah Sullivan a stroke behind at 179 (t-40th).Kylie Diana handed in a 185 to finish alone in 45th. Alexis Dross shot a 197 and Brooke Dross shot a 202 to wrap up the tournament for the Bees.Host Augustana won the team title with a 604 (307-297). Augustana's Avery Frick shot a one-over 145 (78-67) to finish as the tournament champion.
