[Women's Golf] Valdisa Andov Breaks School Record

McPherson, Kan. -The women's team traveled down the road to McPherson, bringing three individual players where they played in the Kansas Central Tournament. The Bluejays competing were Valdisa Andov (JR/Pekanbaru, Indonesia), her sister Valencia Andov (SO/Pekanbaru, Indonesia), and Madison Guerra (SO/Dinuba, Calif.) .  This is the second tournament of the season for the Andov sisters. In their last tournament they placed 4th and 6th respectively. This tournament Valdisa (72,77) placed first overall and broke the school record.  The first day the two sisters stayed even in scores for several holes before Valdisa pulled ahead with a couple birdies. Valdisa would not give up any ground the rest of the way.  Valdisa was in first place after the first day with the school record breaking score of 72. She shot three birdies Monday and was two strokes ahead of second place Yu Wei Chiang who won the last tournament. Valdisa, when asked about breaking the school record said this, "I was surprised when coach told me that I broke the school record because it has been my goal for the past year to break it." She was very happy about how she played the first round. This score is now her personal best score in a tournament. She also spoke about how good it felt to be back winning and in the low 70s scoring.  When asked how Valencia felt about the tournament she said" On the second day I started to perform well and [was] pretty happy with the result."  The Women's team will be playing at Crestview on September 19th and 20th.
