Darkness Halts Second Round of UVA Tournament; Cats Charging

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – With the Kentucky men's golf team poised to take a tournament-best second-round score into the clubhouse, darkness halted the second 18 of the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial with just three holes to play for much of the field on Monday. Kentucky concluded the opening round in a tie for sixth behind an even-par score. Before play was suspended, the Wildcats were sitting at 7-under par in the second round.

The teams will finish the second round beginning on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The third round will then start immediately afterward with a shotgun start using the same pairings as the opening two rounds. The Wildcats will play alongside Saint Mary's and Texas State.

Kentucky was paced by 1-under-par 70s from both Alex Goff and Jacob Cook in the opening round. The duo was tied for 14th on the individual leaderboard. UK sat in a tie for sixth with East Carolina with an even-par 284. Charlotte concluded the opening 18 in first place with a 7-under score as 13 shots separated the leaders from the 14th-placed team.
