Gabbard, Mustangs stand second after opening round of Proal Insurance Invitational

PUEBLO, Colorado — Midwestern State and Tristan Gabbard stand second through the opening round Monday in the Sam Proal Insurance Invitational at the Pueblo Country Club.

The sophomore from Fulshear battled some very fast greens to record three birdies and 11 pars moving to one stroke of tournament leading Rianna Garland of South Dakota Mines after finishing with a birdie on the par-5, 475-yard eighth hole.
