Golden Eagle Men's Golf Places Third out of 11 Teams at BSU Invitational

Bemidji, Minn. – Minnesota Crookston men's golf fell as low as sixth place midway through the second round at the BSU Invitational, but they finished strong, ending up in third place out of 11 teams in their first tournament of the season.
 
Yesterday, the Golden Eagles shot 295 and were in a tie for second. This afternoon, they shot a 297 to finish the tournament in third.
 
MSU Mankato won the invitational with a team score of 576, propelled by shooting 280 yesterday. Bemidji State B team finished two strokes ahead of the Golden Eagles, while Bemidji State A team placed fourth and Concordia-St. Paul rounded out the top five.
 
Individually, Jayme French (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) finished in a tie for second, shooting one over par for the tournament, highlighted by a 71 yesterday. Andrew Wilhelm (Fr., Fargo, N.D.) finished in a tie for 16th after shooting a 72 this afternoon, five strokes better than his yesterday score. Lukas Justesen (Jr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and Connor Czirjak (Fr., Calgary, Alberta) tied for 21st. Ethan Howes (So., Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta) was tied for 23rd.
 
The maroon and gold will now head to Hudson, Wis., for an invite hosted by Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul. The invite starts next Monday through Tuesday.
