Union baseball puts three on NAIA Scholar List

The Union University baseball team put three players on the "http://www.naia.org/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=640701&SPID=96228&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=205435408&DB_OEM_ID=27900"&rt;2012 Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athletes list. Danny Grimm, Benjie Fesmire and David Leisey each made the grade.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

Grimm, a senior, and Fesmire, a junior, are both former University School of Jackson standouts. Leisey is a junior from Liltitz, Pa. These three players were also each named to the TranSouth Scholar Athlete team. Grimm was a first team all-conference player and was selected as a Capital One Academic All-America player. Grimm and Fesmire were both named to the Capital One Academic All-District team. Grimm also earned TranSouth Rawlings Golf Glove honors for the third straight season.

Union is coming off a second straight TranSouth Tournament Title and fourth straight appearance in the NAIA Baseball National Championships Opening Round.
