[Women's Golf] Randell's 6th place finish paces Lady Knights

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga.- The St. Andrews University men's and women's Golf teams opened their spring seasons at Coastal Georgia's annual Winter Invitational at King & Prince GC in St. Simons Island, GA and the Sea Island Retreat GC on Monday and Tuesday.The women tied for 5th place out of 11 teams and were led by a sixth-place finish from junior Lydia Randell (JR/Walnut Cove, NC). She paced the Knights with rounds of 77 and 86 for a 163 while she was the only Lady Knight to shoot in the 70s all week as well as the playing conditions were very tough. Only five other women shot a better round than Randell's 77 all week.AAC rival SCAD-Atlanta shot 298 and 334 to win the Invite by 40 strokes over runner-up Mobile University (Ala.) while the Lady Knights second round score of 343 was the third best of all 11 teams on day two. The score helped SAU jump from 8th to 5th place in the standings tying them with fellow NAIA foe Thomas Univ. (Ga.) at 692. SAU also shot 349 on day one while fellow AAC foe Point finished third and Truett-McConnell (Ga.) finished 8th.Junior Devon Omar (JR/Grovetown, GA) then shot rounds of 83 and 88 to finish in 18th place with a 171.  Senior Isabelle Sullivan (SR/Fremont, NH) then finished 29th overall after she improved by 8 strokes on day two with a score of 85 to finish with a 178 score. Fellow senior Olivia Pruitt (SR/Duncan, OK) then shot the best round for SAU on day two finishing with an 84 to finish in 35th place after her first round 96 for a score of 180.Freshman Hayley Reed (FR/Concord, NH) also competed and finished 52nd after rounds of 101 and 96.The Lady Knights are next in action Feb. 19-20 at the Georgetown Spring Invitational in St. Augustine, FL at the World Golf Village.
