[Golf] Golf Schedules Released for 2018

The 2018 fall schedule has been released for the Doane Men's Golf team. The Tigers will return two athletes who received all-conference honors in 2017-18, Roger Sack and JR Kanemura.Head Coach Myron Parsley stated his excitement for the upcoming season. "We finished 3rd in the GPAC this past year and I would expect us to be up there again competing for a conference championship," Parsley said.The first event on the schedule is the Blue River Classic on September 4-5. Last season, the Tigers snagged a fourth place finish in the Blue River Classic. Roger Sack lead the Doane squad with an individual score of 148, earning a sixth place finish.Doane will travel to McPherson, Kansas, for the Central Kansas Classic on September 10-11. The 2017 Central Kansa Classic consisted of 13 schools from Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. This will be Doane's first year competing in the meet. On September 19-20, Doane will compete at the Midland Invite. Doane finished 5th at this invite last season with three members finishing in the Top 18.The Tigers will compete in the first two rounds of the GPAC Championships on September 24-25. "We will be competing against solid competition in preparation for GPAC at Willow Run in Sioux Falls. We have experience on the Willow Run course and we played very well there this past fall," Parsley stated.The final two rounds of the GPAC Championships will be played during the spring season.Doane will compete for the first time in the GVU Viking Classic this season. The Tigers will travel to Polk City, Iowa, for the meet on October 1-2.Doane will conclude their fall schedule at the Nebraska Intercollegiate on October 12-13. In Doane's last five appearances at the tournament, they have placed inside the Top 6 each time.The spring schedule will be announced later this year. The Doane Women's Golf team kicks off the 2018-19 season on their home course as they host the Doane Fall Invite on September 6. The Tigers are set to tee off at 9AM at the College Heights CC.The Tigers hit the road on September 10 as they travel to Fremont for the Midland Invite. Doane placed third in the tournament last year, which was the Tigers' best finish during a Midland Fall Invite.Doane scheduled an unfamiliar event to this year's schedule. The Tigers will make their first appearance at the York Invite on September 17.On September 26 the Tigers will compete in the Saint Mary Fall Invite. Last year the Doane squad finished with a score of 361. The team score ranked 5th all-time for an 18-hole round low score.The GPAC Championships will begin with two rounds played in Vermillion, S.D., on October 1-2. The championships will conclude with two rounds played in the spring. Last year, the Tigers placed eighth in the championships. Sarah Vaughn was Doane's top finisher with a score of 351, placing 17th overall.Vaughn earned GPAC All-Conference honors for the 2017-18 season.The spring schedule will be announced later this year.
