[Men's Golf] Men's Golf Falcons began spring season with sixth-place finish at San Antonio Shootout

SAN ANTONIO – The Friends University Falcons opened the spring portion of their season with a sixth-place showing at the San Antonio Shootout at the TPC Oaks Course in San Antonio, Texas. The Falcons put together a three-round score of 302-307-318-927, with Southwestern University winning the tournament with a score of 287-300-300-887.Gerardo Alemany was the top-finishing Falcon, coming in tied for 11th overall (75-78-75-228). "Gerardo did a great job of staying focused and is so mentally tough!!" said Friends Director of Golf and men's golf head coach Dustin Galyon. "He pieced together some really good golf!!"Trinton Nobels (73-77-79-229) was tied for 16th, with Trenton Sutherland (77-73-83-233) winding up tied for 24th. "When Trinton is focused, he can do whatever he wants on a golf course!" added Galyon. "As the lowest freshman in the entire event, he played very solid. His +1 first round was so good in the wind and tough conditions."Louis Louchet (77-79-81-237) came in 32nd overall and Harrison Middleton (83-87-83-253) finished 44th.The Falcons are next scheduled to compete on Mar. 20-21 at the Oakwood Intercollegiate in Enid, Okla.Overall, we had some very positive performances," said Galyon. "Gerardo and Trinton played really solid. As a team, this is the most challenging course and tournament that we have played in. The course and conditions were extremely difficult and it was a great challenge. Only playing one of the two courses in the practice round sets up an even more challenging task as the entire field played the Oaks Course (Host of the PGA Valero Texas Open) without ever practicing on it. Playing a tournament this early and this difficult we were able to learn some things and I believe we will build and grow from it."
