[Women's Golf] Leading the Lady Bluejays Tara Sheets Sets a Tabor PR of 89 at Derby Country Club

Winfield, Kan.- The Bluejay Ladies Team had two events over the past week.  It started with 36 holes of golf on Saturday, August 28 at the Derby Country Club.  The girls teed off at 8AM and completed the two rounds at approximately 7PM.  They endured 36 holes of golf in near 100 degree temperatures without their Top 2 golfers from last year Valdisa Andov (SO/Pekanbaru, Indonesia) and Lauryn Paredez (SO/Cutler, Calif.) who will be returning. What an experience for veterans Tara Sheets (SO/Azle, Texas), Gracie Trogdon (SO/Lawton, Okla.), and Megan Brock (SO/Poolville, Texas) but even more so for our two new freshmen Madison Guerra (FR/Dinuba, Calif.) and Tianna Tschetter (FR/Carpenter, S.D.).          Tara had her best 18 holes in competition on Round 1 with a score of 89 and led the team over the total 2 rounds.  Freshman, Maddie Guerrara, had a fabulous inaugural performance and landed in 2nd place for the Tabor Team. The perseverance of all of the golfers was extremely impressive and I was very proud of our team's performance in this shootout!        Two days later the team competed in the Southwestern Invitationational at Winfield Country Club in more of the same heat.  The girls team finished in last place however there were some good performances of note.  Tara Sheets led the team again after the two round tournament and Maddie Guerrara assumed second place among the remaining Tabor team members again. It's difficult to describe the unparalleled conditions the team endured over the two days.  "They persevered and I feel very good the team will continue to grow and improve this year and represent Tabor well in their pursuit of excellence" said coach Ens.WHATS NEXT-  The Bluejays have three weeks off to prepare for the Bethany invite September 20 and 21 at Turkey Creek in McPherson Kansas.
